Nabil Touaizi was delighted to be back among the goals following a recent injury lay-off as the U18s won 4-1 in the FA Youth Cup against Nottingham Forest.

The forward, playing in his second match since spending a month on the side-lines with a fractured toe, grabbed a brace to help the U18s progress in to the Fifth Round at the Academy Stadium.

“I have been injured one month or more so I’m happy to be back on the pitch and to score two goals tonight”, the 17-year-old told ManCity.com.

“It was just a fracture of my toe but I couldn’t run on that so I had to wait until it healed.”

Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Taylor Richards were also on the scoresheet thanks to an early header and a deflected strike respectively, but Touaizi’s first goal was the pick of the bunch as he turned his man expertly before racing in to find the net.

“Sometimes it’s hard for the striker to play with their back to the net but it was a good pass from Tommy (Doyle), I had a good touch and a good finish”, he said of the goal.

“We moved the ball quickly, we had a lot of chances and scored some good goals.”

Eric Garcia captained the U18s to victory, and Touaizi congratulated his teammate and close friend on featuring for the first team in last month’s Carabao Cup Quarter Final win over Leicester City.

“I’m so happy because I’ve known him (Eric) since four years ago”, the forward said.

“This helps the young boys as well to believe that we can play with them (the first team) – it’s good for him.”
