A Mancunian born and bred, Vidal joined the Academy in 2005 and spent three years progressing through the ranks before going out on his first loan spell, to Football League Two side Grimsby Town in September 2008.
He made his debut against Chesterfield in the Football League Trophy at Saltergate and made his league bow as a substitute against Gillingham. After three appearances for the Mariners he returned to City.
In January 2009 his second loan move took him north of the border to Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen.
The right-back made his Dons debut against Rangers and scored his first goal for the club against East Fife in the Scottish Cup in February 2009. Vidal made 14 appearances in his six months at Aberdeen before returning to City.
His third loan spell took him to Derby County in February 2010. He stayed until the end of the season but made just one appearance for the Rams as a substitute in a 3-0 win against Newcastle before being recalled.
Vidal’s long-awaited debut for the Blues came in September 2010, when Roberto Mancini handed him a start in a Carling Cup tie at West Brom. He was 21 when he made his bow in the 2-1 defeat.
The defender went to Chesterfield on a five-week loan deal in January 2011. He was released by City in June 2011 and has since been on trial with Yeovil Town, but is currently a free agent.
Vidal has also been capped by England at both Under-19 and Under-20 levels.
