Born in Stockport the son of two die-hard Blues, Chantler has the Club in his blood and decided from an early age that a career in football was the only option for him.
He began his playing career at his local team in Bramhall before putting himself in the shop window by joining former City striker Neil Young’s Soccer School.
At the age of nine Chantler joined City’s Academy - as one of the late FA Cup Final hero Young’s personal recommendations.
The City legend had spotted the youngster’s potential and sent him for a trial, a move that proved successful and saw Chantler make progress as he grew up at Platt Lane.
He began as a midfielder but has more recently moved into defence, mostly featuring at left back
After becoming a regular for the Under-18 side and moving into the Elite Development Squad at Carrington, Chantler made his bow under Roberto Mancini at the Stadio Olimpico against Juve in a Europa League group tie on 16 December 2010, his 20th birthday.
He has not featured since for the first team, but has been a virtual ever-present for the EDS and scored a spectacular goal against Burnley in a pre-season match for the Blues in August 2011.
He was also included by City on the Club’s ‘B’ list of youth players for the Champions League.
