Right back Shaleum first came to prominence after impressing during the Under-18 side’s run to the 2005–06 FA Youth Cup final, where they were pipped 3-2 by Liverpool over two legs.
Logan made his breakthrough first-team debut in the 2–1 League Cup second-round victory over Bristol City in August 2007, and added a second appearance in the next round against Norwich City that September.
He joined League Two club Grimsby on a one-month loan in October 2007, and made his mark instantly by scoring on his debut against Rochdale. On his return to City, he was immediately loaned out to Scunthorpe United, again for a month before joining Stockport County on a one-month loan in February 2008.
In July of the following year, Logan was recruited by John Barnes for Tranmere Rovers on loan until the end of the season, having signed a new contract at City.
His 39 senior appearances, despite a month out for hernia surgery, were crucial to the struggling team’s survival in League One, and relegation was avoided on the last day at Stockport.
In the summer of 2010 he went on trial to Doncaster Rovers and Sheffield United, playing in friendly matches. However, that September he was a surprise inclusion in Roberto Mancini’s 25-man Premier League squad, making him City’s 11th Englishman and 12th home-grown player in the list.
Nevertheless, in November Logan played as a trialist for Watford in a reserve team game against local rivals Luton, and it was clear that his future lay away from the club of his boyhood.
He was released by City in June 2011 and joined Brentford a fortnight later as the first signing for new Bees manager Uwe Rosler, the German striker who had been such a favourite with Blues fans.
Again, it didn’t take him long to make an impression at the start of the campaign, scoring on his debut in a 2-0 win over Yeovil Town when he broke from his own half after 75 minutes and hit the clinching goal after playing a neat one-two.
