Former Welsh international Bodin earned 24 caps for his country during a playing career that spanned some 20 years. He began his career at Chelsea before moving onto Welsh clubs Newport County, Cardiff City and Merthyr Tydfil.
Bodin enjoyed two spells playing at the County Ground, accumulating a total of over 240 appearances, scoring 37 goals with appearances in the Premier League and penalty strikes against Manchester United and Arsenal.
After becoming player/manager at Bath City, the 47-year-old returned to Swindon in 2007 to manage the youth team and has continued to do so ever since, despite enjoying a period as caretaker manager for the first team in April 2011 prior to Paolo Di Canio’s arrival.
As manager of the Robins’ youth team, he has overseen successes in the Milk Cup, Wiltshire Premier Shield and Swindon have topped the Football League South West Conference for the past three years.
The Wiltshire side have seen off Newport County, Bournemouth and Birmingham City in the FA Youth Cup so far, but Bodin is aware that City pose a significant threat to their progress.
“City have a number of players involved in the international scene and have a lot of players to pick from,” he said.
“I will be looking to see how our players compete against them and all we can ask for is hard work then who knows? The FA Youth Cup is a magnificent competition and it should be a wonderful game.”
The game on Tuesday 17 January will be played at the County Ground, kick off 7pm. Tickets are only available on the door on the evening. Prices are £5 adults, £3 concessions.
