City U18s are on the road this weekend when they travel to Liverpool on Saturday morning, 11am kick off (BST)…

The young Blues are the only side to have a 100% record intact in the second stage of the Barclays U18 Premier League and could takeover Chelsea in first place with a win.

Liverpool currently sit behind City in the league, taking six points from their four league games with a record of two wins and two defeats.

The two sides have played each other twice already this season with City picking up the win in the opening game of the campaign before taking a point from the away fixture.

Defender Ash Kigbu spoke to mcfc.co.uk prior to the game, stating his belief that the three points would put City in pole position for the title.

He said: “Liverpool is another important fixture for us. We’ll head there in high spirits and look to continue our good form of late.

“I think if we secure the three points, it will put us in a good position to win the second part of the league.”

Kigbu played his part in the 3-0 victory against West Ham last time out and he believes the win was a sign of a good side after a tough fixture versus Arsenal earlier in the week.

The 17-year old commented: “I think it was a good win against West Ham, a very important one too. We needed to get the three points to make sure we stay at the top end of the league.

“We had a big fixture against Arsenal at the start of the week so we needed to show that we are capable of playing in the big games and following it up with a good performance.”

Kigbu continued: “At the moment, we’ve very confident and it shows as we’re currently 14 games unbeaten.

“That’s enough in itself to keep our belief going and help us towards remaining unbeaten until the end of the season.”
