Manchester City is proud to be sponsoring a production which will celebrate what it means to be one of the Club’s loyal fans.

The UK premiere of We’re Not Really Here debuts at Oxford Road venue, Contact, on Wednesday 20 September as it allows the audience to experience a football match like never before.

This football opera celebrates the highs, the lows, the drama, the excitement, the emotions and the banter that all die-hard fans know and love.

And best of all, Manchester City’s incredible fan base are the focal point.

In this unique show the audience are placed centre stage to watch a cast of up to 100 genuine Blues sat in the ‘terraces’ re-enacting a typical matchday.

With the theatre transformed into a stadium, the audience will experience the game from a player’s perspective as they witness a ground full of excited and emotional fans.

Tender, intimate and ear-splittingly loud in good measure, this 90 minute rollercoaster of emotion offers a rare insight into the theatrical element of football fandom.

“We are delighted that Contact will be bringing this exciting show to Manchester,” said Manchester City Marketing Director, Jeff Howarth.

“We’re Not Really Here will be a great way to showcase the passion of City fans and explore the stories of what makes supporting this Club so special.

“I know everyone across the Club is excited to see the show and we wish the crew and performers the best of luck.”

Clubs in the Czech Republic, Holland, Finland and Ireland have previously showcased this theatrical piece, but this is the first time it has been shown in England, and with a club with the scale and reputation of City.

The We’re Not Really Here is made up entirely of real-life City fans, sharing and telling their personal stories and experiences.

It has been devised by a team of acclaimed, international and professional creatives, which includes the directors of legendary Belgian theatre company het Kip.
