Our former manager, who led the Club to the 1974 League Cup final during a one-year stay, sadly passed away on Saturday aged 87.
Saunders was best-known for his managerial spell at Aston Villa, where he guided the Midlands outfit to the 1981 First Division title and two League Cups.
Impressively, he steered three different clubs to three successive League Cup Finals – Norwich (1973), City (1974) and Villa (1975).
Upon completing his 16-year playing career as player-manager at Yeovil Town, Saunders embarked on an impressive managerial career, which spanned two decades.
He remains the only manager to have taken charge of midlands rivals Villa, West Brom and Birmingham City, ending his career with the Baggies when he retired in 1987.
Everyone at the Club sends their thoughts and condolences to Ron’s friends and family.
