Manchester City have become the first club to launch a FIFA Online team in South Korea following a three-month campaign, run in collaboration with official partner Nexon, to find the country’s best up

The team, named Man City Esports Korea, competed against over 1,300 other teams in a nationwide FIFA Online 4 tournament to win a unique opportunity to represent the Premier League champions on the Esports stage.

During the 2019/20 season, the victorious Seo Jun Yeol, Kim Yoo Min and Kim Sung Hoon will now participate in various FIFA Online 4 tournaments, including the EA Champions Cup in May 2020, as well as provide new and exciting opportunities for fans by creating engaging content.

Commenting on their new role, Seo Jun Yeol said: “We’re so excited to win this tournament and join the Premier League champions. Manchester City is one of the biggest clubs in South Korea so it will be an honour to represent them in our country. We can’t wait to get started!”

Club partner Nexon, the official publisher of FIFA online 4 in South Korea, launched the competition back in September with an online qualifying round followed by live heats in venues across South Korea’s capital city, Seoul.

A semi-final and grand final at the Nexon Arena then saw the top talents battle for the ultimate prize whilst the nation watched across live broadcasts on Youtube, Twitch, AfreecaTV, Naver and SPOTV Games.

This collaboration builds on Manchester City’s current Esports offering, with various dedicated FIFA players representing the Club around the world, including China, where City were also the first Premier League club to launch a FIFA Online team.
