Nearly $10,000 was raised for charity as Manchester City fans in New York came together to cheer on the Blues in the Manchester derby.

Organised by the New York branch of the Official Supporters’ Club and supported by the Club and regional partner Carlsberg, the event connected Blues for the big game whilst simultaneously raising money in memory of one their founding members, Steve Jepson.

400 fans were in attendance, 120 of which were members of supporters’ clubs, with all participating in a period of applause during the 50th minute to remember their friend, Steve.

A host of activities helped to raise a grand total of $9610, with Carlsberg contributing $960 with their commitment to donate $4 for every pint sold and $150 for every goal scored.

The Nashville branch generously donated $355, but the bulk of the money raised came from one of the highlights of the day – an auction including a plethora of City memorabilia.

Shirts signed by the current squad and legends from days gone by were up for grabs as were a host of individual items signed by the likes of Sergio Aguero, Ilkay Gundogan, David Silva and Raheem Sterling.

President of the New York Supporters’ Club branch, John Pepper, felt the event encapsulated everything which the Club stands for.

“What Manchester City are about more than anything is community, sharing, giving and looking after each other,” he said.

“I want to thank Manchester City for being really generous with their time and resources to make it such a special derby day.

“This club makes us proud to be blue, and we are in awe of City for all they do in giving back.”
