A Premier League winner and a fan favourite, Richards has called time on his playing career aged 31 after three frustrating, injured-hampered years.
He ends the journey with 13 England caps, an Olympic Games appearance, an FA Cup medal and having playing a key role in City’s unforgettable 2011/12 Premier League victory.

With his retirement confirmed, Richards will be back working at City in an ad-hoc off the field role, whilst also concentrating on his business interests.
“City has always been my spiritual home and where I enjoyed my best years as a player,” he said.
“Being part of the side that ended the long wait for silverware - in 2011 and 2012 - was very special.
“It kick-started this new era and the Club has never looked back. What has happened since has been amazing.”
