City in the Community (CITC) is once again celebrating national Week of Play by highlighting the work their City Play Together programme does for families in Manchester.

The week, which runs from Monday 13 to Sunday 19 of June, is focused specifically on eco-sustainability and how we can help young children to understand the importance of protecting the planet.

National Week of Play 2022 aims to encourage both early educators and children to take active steps to sow the seeds of sustainability and nurture them.

Natalie Sutcliffe, Early Years manager said: “CITC’s early years offer has existed for over five years now, delivering a bespoke and progressive physical development curriculum in schools, nurseries and childcare settings across Manchester.

“In support of this year’s National Week of Play theme of ‘protecting the planet through play’, all three thousand-plus children taking part in the City Play programme will enjoy a fun, sustainable-themed session exploring how to keep our beaches and waters clean and the importance of trees for play.”

The City Play Together initiative aims to help get families and their children aged two to five taking part in physical activity together.

Carl Burke, CITC Early Year Officer said: “City Play Together sessions give us a unique opportunity to not only impact participants between the ages of two and five-year-olds but also the whole family, or a guardian.”

The sessions are currently held at three youth centres across Greater Manchester, with sessions continuing over the summer.

Participants can simply turn up and play or if you would like more information, please email cityplay@cityfootball.com.
