The Club’s charity, City in the Community (CITC), recently celebrated graduates from its BSc (Hons) Manchester City Community Football Coaching course.

Staff and students came together at the Etihad Stadium’s Tunnel Club to reflect on three years of hard work, which culminated in the award of their degrees from Manchester Metropolitan University.

The evening consisted of a three-course meal, taking place around an awards ceremony and presentation in which the students could reflect on their best memories from the course.

On the night graduate Josh Green, the winner of the Alex Williams MBE Outstanding Contribution Award, spoke about his time on the City Degree programme.

He said: “The last three years on the City Degree course have been amazing.

“The staff at MMU and CITC throughout the entire degree course have been brilliant and I now leave university with great knowledge and confidence to coach in the community.

“I have also gained friends for life and strong working relationships with those who I have networked with.

“I am honoured to win the Alex Williams MBE Outstanding Contribution Award.

“I’ve worked hard over the last three years and I am proud that it has been recognised, particularly because so many other graduates from the City Degree programme have also worked hard and contributed massively to CITC.

“The graduation celebration was a brilliant evening. The organisation was amazing and it made for a brilliant evening. I would like to thank all of the CITC staff involved for putting on such a great event.”

11+ Education Officer of Higher Education, Oliver Murphy commented on the event: “This year’s Graduation Celebration was a momentous occasion, to honour the hard work, dedication, and perseverance of these outstanding graduates over their last three years on the degree programme.

“It was a great night that wrapped up the university journey brilliantly, with graduates now ready to enter new, meaningful and exciting opportunities.

“Each of them has a unique story, they have faced challenges head-on and emerged stronger, and more knowledgeable, with resilience, dedication and a commitment to excellence, which is truly inspiring.

“I want to thank all of the CITC and MMU staff for their unwavering dedication and support that has strongly impacted our degree course and our students.

“Their hard work and commitment to excellence have made a lasting difference in their academic journeys and future careers.”

Sitting under CITC’s Healthy Futures pillar, the programme brings together CITC’s community football coaching knowledge with Manchester Metropolitan’s academic expertise, to offer the best of both worlds and an integrated path to rewarding career goals.

With work-based learning in elite, professional sporting surroundings, the course provides students with the skills, knowledge and experience needed to find success as a coach or sports programme leader.

Both Foundation and Batchelor of Science courses are available.
