In February teams from around Greater Manchester competed in CITC’s PLPS tournament, with Gresswell Primary School and Hursthead Primary School coming out on top.
Now they have the opportunity to play at Elland Road, home of Leeds United, in the playing kit of their respective professional football club.
Gresswell and Hursthead will step foot on the pitch at Elland Road in June along with 19 other teams from around the country.
CITC’s Premier League Primary Stars (PLPS) programme is delivered at five to 11-year-olds across Greater Manchester, with the aim of upskilling teachers around delivering PE and school sport.
Sitting under the charity’s ‘Healthy People’ pillar, CITC PLPS coaches work with pupils to help enhance their physical and social development.
The programme also delivers educational workshops on topics such as anti-bullying and anti-racism throughout the year.
Coaches work closely with teachers to ensure they feel comfortable to deliver a subject they may not do otherwise.
Coaches are able to adapt their approach, the content and physical activity sessions in order to best meet the requirements of the school/group that they are working with.
City in the Community, Manchester City’s charity, empowers healthier lives with city youth through football across Greater Manchester.
Programmes place physical and mental health at their core, whilst also creating healthy futures and healthy communities.
