The Club’s Charity, City in the Community (CITC), is supporting the European Football for Development Network’s (EFDN) #MoreThanFootball campaign.

The campaign, which was created for the European football community, allows clubs’ community organisations to showcase the impact of their community, social responsibility activities and programmes.

Initiated by the European Football for Development Network, which City in the Community joined earlier this year, the campaign provides participating clubs with a platform to inform and engage with fans and stakeholders on their community and social responsibility activities.

By supporting the #MoreThanFootball campaign, CITC will join a host of other European football clubs in raising awareness of the transformative role that they play in changing peoples’ lives for the better.

The European Football for Development Network consists of professional football clubs, leagues and FAs who are committed to their communities and social responsibilities and have the passion to cooperate and engage on a European level.

This creates a collaborative environment for knowledge sharing in order to develop a diversity of training methods that will directly benefit communities throughout Europe.

You can find out more about the role that City in the Community play in empowering healthier lives with city youth through football by reading the charity’s 2023/24 Annual Report.

Upon launching the campaign, EDFN launched the following statement:

“Football has always been much more than just a game. Unfortunately, people rarely see the stories of the excellent daily work being done through football organisations’ community and social development initiatives.

“We believe that all European clubs, leagues and FAs go above and beyond organising a game with 22 players on the pitch. So, in 2017 we launched the #MoreThanFootball Action Weeks to showcase and further broaden the reach of Community and Social Responsibility in European football.”

Over the coming weeks, CITC will be celebrating its impact on the local community through a series of matchday activations and posts on their social media accounts, so keep an eye out for more.
