To celebrate the build-up to tonight’s game in Houston, coaches from City’s foundation teamed up with Club America to deliver a free community football festival for 64 local kids.

The participants, aged 9-12, were from the Houston Boys and Girls Club and Nido Águila Houston City. They took part in fun, inclusive football clinics with foundation coaches from both clubs.

Joao Cancelo and Julian Alvarez visited the event and surprised participants, alongside Club America players.

As well as engaging with the players on and off the pitch, the kids also had a chance to meet Moonchester and Moonbeam and Club America mascot Agui.

Gareth Hughes, International Programmes Manager at City’s global foundation, said: “Engaging with the local community has always been a key part of pre-season tour for Man City and it was amazing to team up with Club America to provide this free football experience for young people in Houston.

“Having the players visit the session injected inspiration and was a fantastic experience for the children.”

The event was also attended by members from City’s Official Supporters Clubs, Houston Space Cityzens and Blue Moon Dallas, who had a chance to watch the activities and meet the players.

Manchester City’s global foundation initiative, Cityzens Giving, supports youth-led community football projects across the world, using the power of the beautiful game to improve the health of young people.
