This month, more than 600 young leaders from 40 cities around the world tuned into the first in a new series of live online Global Forums supported by Cityzens Giving’s Official Technology Partner Cisco.

The Global Forums, taking place on Webex by Cisco, provide a regular opportunity for young leaders to connect with each other and with City in the Community coaches to share learning and innovation on using the power of football to uplift the health and wellbeing of young people in their communities.

The first Forum kicked off with a focus on community coaching, providing practical tools and tips to upskill young leaders in delivering engaging and inclusive community football sessions for young people in their programmes.

Each forum includes pre-event content, a live 90 minute interactive discussion and a post-event task, designed to help the young leaders put their learning into practice, and reward creativity and innovation.

Gareth Hughes, International Programmes Manager at City Football Foundation, said: “The Global Forums are a great way for Young Leaders from very different communities across the world to share knowledge about community coaching skills and techniques that will upskill them to continue their inspiring work in the future.”

Arman, a Young Leader in Kolkata, added: “I am very glad to be a part of this Global Forum. I am happy and feel proud to learn from this training and contribute positive change to my community.”

“We are thrilled to continue our support of Cityzens Giving with the successful kick off Global Forums,” said Christina Leong, Global Sports Marketing Manager at Cisco.

“There is no better way for us to live out our corporate purpose to power an inclusive future than by using our technology to bring people together.

“We look forward to continuing to support the young leaders and the important work they are doing to positively impact their local communities.”

The Global Forums are a key part of Cityzens Giving’s digital learning network, which drives year-round connectivity across projects and young leaders globally.

Launched in July 2020, off the back of our first ever virtual Young Leaders Summit, the digital network has fostered connectivity and collaboration between projects, equipping more than 1,000 Young Leaders with the skills, confidence and support systems they need to continue improving the lives of city kids through football.
