With the support of Official Partner, SHB Bank, Cityzens Giving has delivered a week-long digital training programme to 200 young leaders across Vietnam.

This builds on four years of partnership working with young leaders in Hanoi and Da Nang to give them the skills and confidence to use football to tackle social issues in their communities.

Due to COVID-19 travel restrictions this year, the training was fully digitised and extended to young people nationwide. 200 young leaders joined from 17 different SOS Children’s Villages - a charity which gives a home and a family to children who have lost one or both parents.

During the week, City in the Community coaches delivered a series of interactive sessions on financial literacy, community football, leadership and life skills to inspire young leaders and give them the know-how to use football as a tool to educate and uplift younger children in the Villages.

Young Leaders will go on to put their learning into practice and to deliver a community football festival across all Villages to mark World Children’s Day in June.

Director of City Football Group Foundation, Tom Pitchon said: “We are inspired by the impact we are creating for young leaders across Vietnam through our partnership with SHB Bank.

“In the wake of the pandemic, we’ve been using technology to scale our training to more SOS Villages across the country, supporting a growing network of young leaders with leadership, coaching, financial literacy and life skills training.

“We look forward to continuing to work together to uplift local young people through football”.

Mr. Nguyen Van Le, CEO of SHB shared: “The mission to bring good values to the community, especially to contribute to the development of the younger generation, has always been important to SHB’s business and values.

“This year, Young Leader programme is equipping young people with financial literacy and budget planning skills alongside developing their community football and leadership skills.

“SHB hopes that after this training course, the young leaders will go on to confidently put their learning into practice and continue to make a difference in their communities.”
