The Lancashire born comedian will be followed by an exciting programme of artists including Olivia Rodriguo, Take That, Eagles, Nicki Minaj and Liam Gallagher.
A joint investment between City Football Group and Oak View Group, Co-op Live will be the UK’s first purpose-built state of the art music arena and will boast the largest floor space of any indoor venue, a significantly lower ceiling, and tiered seating bringing fans closer to artists.
Cutting edge visual technology, exceptional acoustics and innovative sound bowl design mean that fans will experience the best show possible whether standing or seated, in a space designed to welcome the biggest and most exciting global artists. Niall Horan, Pearl Jam, and Eric Clapton are already confirmed to be performing later this year.
The opening of the Co-op Live arena marks a significant moment in the evolution of the Etihad Campus and the ambition to deliver a best-in-class fan experience and entertainment destination in the heart of East Manchester.
Since 2008, City Football Group has overseen over £700 million of investment in East Manchester, delivering a range of facilities including the City Football Academy, the Connell Co-op College, the Manchester Institute of Health & Performance and now Co-op Live.
Commenting on the Co-op Live following the announcement of the first artist, Danny Wilson, Managing Director – Manchester City Operations, said:
“As joint venture partners and campus neighbours we are looking forward to welcoming an array of homegrown talent and global artists to the Etihad Campus in just a couple of months’ time.
“Our investment in the Co-op Live is part of our ambition to deliver entertainment beyond football and create a year-round destination that caters for everyone wanting to experience world-class events, whether that’s football, music or comedy.
“Alongside the development and expansion of the Etihad Stadium, the Co-op Live will also support our ongoing work to deliver more permanent jobs and opportunities for local people, building on our investments and the legacy we have delivered in East Manchester since 2008.”
