The event, hosted by NBC and the Premier League, turned the city into a football hub for the weekend, with fans of Premier League clubs traveling in from across the country.
On Saturday, the Kansas City Official Supporters Club gathered at their home pub, Waldo Social, for a lively pre-party. Members enjoyed Asahi beer specials while taking part in raffles for signed memorabilia, including a coveted Erling Haaland shirt.
The evening also featured lighthearted competition as supporters tested their skills against mascots Moonchester and Moonbeam, battling for bragging rights in a first-touch challenge judged by the “Moonies” themselves.
By dawn on Sunday, City supporters were out in force, with some arriving as early as 5:00 a.m. to secure their spots for the broadcast and matches. An estimated couple hundred City fans joined the wider crowd of Premier League fans, filling the plaza with sky-blue shirts.
Adding to the spectacle, the Back Alley Brass Band opened the national broadcast with a performance of City songs setting the tone for the day’s celebrations.
The fan fest drew a true traveling crowd with City fans travelling in from as far away as Nebraska and Michigan. For many, it was a chance to watch the matches together with fellow Blues.
From raffles and friendly competition at Waldo Social, to the sea of sky-blue at sunrise, and the national TV spotlight shining on Kansas City, it was a weekend the Kansas City OSC won’t soon forget.
