And to mark South Asian Heritage Month, which ends today, more than 100 young boys and girls from Greater Manchester attended a special event hosted by the two parties at City Football Academy.
Aged between five and ten years old, the children of South Asian heritage were invited to play football in the Club’s state-of-the-art facilities with professional coaches on hand to help make the day special. The event also looked to demonstrate to the young children about possible pathways and opportunities available within the footballing industry.
Take a look at the event here:
Paz Shan, Founder of Street Work Soccer Academy, said after the event:
“The South Asian population are underrepresented on the pitch, so providing fun opportunities like this, in an inclusive space is important for personal and football growth.
“Giving the young participants positive experiences, confidence in our pathways and support from the Club is really important, particularly during this month of awareness.”
As part of their efforts to create equal opportunities, Manchester City’s Academy recently recruited a new Parent Liaison and Inclusive Recruitment Manager, Sevvy Aslam, who will work with the Junior Academy and local recruitment team to ensure all families and children from across the area can enjoy free, inclusive sessions at the Club’s world-class facilities.
