Manchester City is proud to once again be supporting this year’s Manchester Pride.

The annual festival is one of the UK’s longest-running LGBTQ+ celebrations and will see a range of events taking place across Manchester this weekend.

Over the next few days, the Club will participate in the annual Pride Parade and publish interviews with our fans discussing the importance of Manchester Pride and what it means to the city and its LGBTQ+ community.

However, in line with tradition, the Club marked the start of the celebrations earlier this week by holding its annual pride-raising flag ceremony outside the Etihad Stadium.

Staff from the Club and City in the Community were once again joined by members of Canal Street Blues – Manchester City’s LGBTQ+ Supporters Branch - as well as senior representatives from Manchester Pride.

And following last season’s treble-winning success, guests were joined by the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and Super Cup trophies at an event in Tunnel Club.

Mark Fletcher, Chief Executive of Manchester Pride, commented: “Standing here today at this iconic stadium, it’s heartwarming to see Man City show support for Manchester Pride.

“Over the next few days, our city will welcome tens of thousands of visitors from across the world, coming together for a vibrant celebration of the LGBTQ+ community.

“We can’t wait to see the Club and Canal Street Blues at the Manchester Pride Parade, which commences from Deansgate at midday on Saturday.”

The Club’s work with Canal Street Blues to celebrate Manchester Pride forms part of its long-standing efforts to champion inclusivity in football.”

And the Official Supporters Club branch has invited the Club to accompany them on their bus at the Pride Parade tomorrow (Saturday 26th August).

Fans taking part in this weekend’s celebrations can wear CITY AND PROUD t-shirts and hoodies which are available in the City Stores at the Etihad Campus or in the Arndale shopping centre.
