Across the weekend, Manchester City will proudly join people across the country in remembering those who paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect others.

Before the World Cup break, all our men’s shirts will feature a poppy motif, and those worn by City players in the win over Fulham have already been donated to the Royal British Legion to raise money for the charity.

And against Brentford on Saturday 12 November, the Club’s closest game to Remembrance Sunday, supporters and players will come together to pay their respect with a minute silence.

Pep Guardiola will lay a wreath pitchside before the match, while another will be placed in the Club’s Memorial Garden earlier that day.

Meanwhile, members of City in the Community Military Veterans Football Team will be walking over 10 miles across Manchester while wearing weighted backpacks to raise awareness of Remembrance Day and the Royal British Legion.

The walk will also pay tribute to the Club’s Honorary President, Ian Niven, who sadly passed away last year.

The walk will start at The Fletchers Arms in Denton, travelling to the Manchester Cenotaph at St Peter’s Square to pay their respects, before ending at the Etihad Stadium where the participants will enter the stadium and stand pitchside for the Last Post and minute silence.

Our Women’s team paid their respects during our victory over Reading last Sunday, with those shirts also donated to the Royal British Legion, while our Academy Teams will take the time to reflect during their upcoming matches.

With the Premier League’s Academy Education Programme discussing the Christmas Truce, our Under-12 teams will hold a minute silence before kick-off.

After the match, the different Club captains will also exchange gifts with each other as a sign of respect and the lessons learned from those events in 1914.
