Mike Green, Head of City in the Community will be stepping down from his role to take up a new opportunity within City Football Group in the coming months.

Mike joined Manchester City’s charitable arm back in 2004 and has now accepted the position of Chief Executive Officer at sister Club, Lommel SK, where he will oversee all business and football operations.

Mike has been fundamental in the expansion of City in the Community, transforming it into one of the UK’s leading football charities since taking on the top role over nine years ago.

Under his guidance, City in the Community has grown from 30 to 115 members of staff and has seen a rise from £600k to £3.5m in annual turnover. During this time, CITC has been applauded with multiple awards including a Special Recognition Award from the Queen’s Representative for Services to the Community in each of the last two years.

Managing Director for Manchester City Operations and City in the Community Trustee, Danny Wilson, commented:

“Everyone at Manchester City would like to offer our best wishes to Mike, as he takes on this new and exciting opportunity.

“Mike will leave behind a legacy at City in the Community. His passion and dedication for the charity has been unwavering for many years, creating an invaluable culture built on stability and success.

“Everyone at City in the Community will be sad to see him go, but I have no doubt that he will continue to thrive within his new role at Lommel and we wish him every success.

“The Board of Trustees will now turn towards the future as we look to recruit a new Head of City in the Community.”

Mike added: “I would like to thank everyone at City in the Community and City Football Group for their support over the last 16 years.

“I am immensely proud of all that we have achieved together during that time and believe that I am leaving the charity in the strongest possible position, with an exciting future ahead of it.

“Although I will miss working within City in the Community, I look forward to embarking on a new journey with Lommel SK and remaining a part of the City Football Group family.”

Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Patrick Loftus, will work closely with CITC’s experienced Senior Leadership Team to ensure a smooth transition for the whole charity, from staff to participants and partners. The recruitment process will begin immediately.
