Following the Government’s introduction of ‘Plan B’ COVID-19 measures in England, the Premier League has implemented new protocols for all supporters attending matches.

This means that entry requirements for Premier League matches have now changed and supporters over the age of 18 cannot attend a match without a valid NHS COVID Pass or a negative COVID-19 test result (SMS or email, which has been registered with the NHS), unless they are exempt.

To attend a Manchester City match in the Premier League you will now need to:

1. Complete a self-declaration form before you attend a match. At this time, match attending supporters are only required to complete this once in order to attend all further matches, both home and away. Should this change, further details and information will be provided.

  • Every Season Ticket holder, and supporters who have purchased a ticket for Manchester City vs Leicester City on 26 December, has been sent an email from the Club with a link to complete a self-declaration form. We would ask everyone that has received this email to complete the form as soon as possible and no later than midnight on Thursday 23 December.

You can also access the form, here.

  • For all subsequent matches this season, supporters will receive an email from the Club following their match ticket purchase with a link to complete a self-declaration form. This form must be completed no later than 24 hours before the match they are attending.

2. Ensure that you have either a valid NHS COVID Pass on your mobile device, proof of a negative Lateral Flow COVID-19 test result (SMS or email, which has been registered with the NHS) taken within 48 hours of the matchday, or evidence of exemption, and be ready to present this at the stadium if you are asked to do so.

3. Remember that you must not attend a match if you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or if you are at risk of passing on COVID-19. The UK Government’s current stay at home guidance is available here.

If you are unable to present a valid NHS COVID Pass or proof of a negative COVID-19 test when asked to do so, entry to the stadium will be declined in line with legal requirements, unless you are exempt. This is in addition to completing the self-declaration form.

Face coverings

You must wear a face-covering when moving around indoor areas of the stadium and when travelling on public transport. Whilst it is not mandatory to wear a face-covering when seated in the stadium bowl, it is encouraged.

FAQs

How do I download my NHS COVID Pass?

Information about how to download your NHS COVID Pass can be found here. Alternatively, you can request a printed COVID Pass letter from the NHS by telephoning 119 or by visiting the NHS website here.

We recommend you use the NHS App option to add your COVID Pass to your Apple Wallet or Google Pay Wallet or download a PDF copy. This will help to avoid delays if you have mobile data connectivity issues on matchday.

If I have not been vaccinated, can I still attend a match?

Yes. If you have not been vaccinated or do not have a valid NHS COVID Pass, you can also take a COVID-19 test within 48 hours of matchday, register it with the NHS and present proof of your negative result (SMS or email). You can find more information about where you can get a Lateral Flow Test here. Tests can also be ordered for free here (subject to availability).

If I am medically exempt, what should I do?

You can apply for medical exemption here or by telephoning 119. Please note, this process can take up to 2-3 weeks from application to certification.

In the event that your medical exemption has not been processed in advance of the match you are attending, please take a COVID-19 test within 48 hours of matchday, register it with the NHS, and bring proof of your negative result with you (SMS or email).

I am travelling from outside of England, what evidence do I need to produce?

If you are travelling from outside of England, you can provide proof of vaccination that is available to you from your local health authority, or an international equivalent to the NHS COVID Pass accepted at the UK border.

Will I need to complete a self-declaration form for every match?

At this time, match attending supporters are only required to complete this once in order to attend all further matches, both home and away. Should this change, further details and information will be provided.

However, you must ensure that you have a valid NHS COVID Pass on your mobile device, proof of a negative COVID-19 test result (SMS or email, which has been registered with the NHS) taken within 48 hours of the matchday, or evidence of exemption, and be ready to present this at the stadium if you are asked to do so. Evidence must be brought to every match.

I am a personal assistant acting on behalf of a supporter, can I complete their self-declaration form?

Yes. Personal assistants can complete this on behalf of disabled supporters. The form should be completed with the disabled supporter’s details. Personal assistants must be able to produce evidence as listed above if attending a match with a disabled supporter.

I am a hospitality client and will attend the match with guests, do all guests need to complete a self-declaration form?

No. Only the lead booker needs to complete the self-declaration form, however, it is the lead booker’s responsibility to ensure their guests are aware of the new matchday protocols in place.

The lead booker must ensure that all guests bring a valid NHS COVID Pass on their mobile device, or proof of a negative COVID-19 test result (SMS or email, which has been registered with the NHS) taken within 48 hours of the matchday, or evidence of exemption.

Do I need to wear a face covering at the match?

You must wear a face covering when moving around indoor areas of the stadium and when travelling on public transport. Whilst it is not mandatory to wear a face covering when seated in the stadium bowl, it is encouraged.

Thank you for your cooperation and support.
