On Sunday 14 December, City in the Community (CITC), hosted its fifth annual Santa Stroll which saw more than 1,200 sky blue Santas take to the Etihad Campus to raise money for a good cause.

The 5km route took strollers (including the canine kind) through the Etihad Stadium and over the new SuisseGas community bridge linking the stadium to the recently opened City Football Academy.

With a klaxon in hand, lifelong Blue and CITC supporter Jason Manford joined former City skipper and New York City Football Club Sporting Director Claudio Reyna, to start the stroll.

The family-friendly event was attended by Blues of all ages and Manchester City mascots Moonchester and Moonbeam kept them entertained along the route.

CITC Ambassador and former MCFC goalkeeper Alex Williams was thrilled with the Foundation’s biggest fundraiser of the year, declaring: “It has been another unforgettable Santa Stroll so thank you to everyone who took part and helped us raise money for City in the Community.

“Seeing our green goalkeeper Santas suits dotted around was a highlight for me but I fill with pride every year when I see our fans turn up and support the Foundation.”

There were plenty of festive activities taking place in City Square from 9:30am, including a rodeo reindeer, bagpipers, festive feasts and the opportunity to meet Father Christmas in Santa’s Grotto.

Santa Stroll’s sister event, Santa Dash, took place on Sunday morning as well and saw Damien Nichols winning the 5km race in a record time of 15.22, setting the bar high for next year’s brave dashers.
