For the fifth consecutive year, we asked supporters to make a difference to communities across the globe and were overawed by the staggering number of people who backed the campaign.
United in a desire to positively impact the lives of young people in cities around the world, the entire City Football Group family – including players, partners and most importantly, City fans around the world – pledged their support to Cityzens Giving.
This year’s campaign once again distributed £400,000 donated by City Football Group and its partners to six urban football projects run by young people, for young people.
We are excited to reveal that Bangalore’s Safe Water project, supported by the Club’s water technology partner Xylem, was the most popular project, with more than 450,000 votes, and will receive £92,000 in grant funding.
The project will combine Xylem’s expertise by providing a clean water tower in the heart of the community, along with football and education sessions on water and sanitation. As a result, this Cityzens Giving project will increase access to safe water and reduce the risk of illness for more than 5,000 children and young people across Bangalore.
Similarly, your support of this year’s campaign will also help young leaders in five other cities – Kilifi, Sao Paulo, Manchester, Melbourne and New York – deliver their inspiring, urban football programmes, which are tackling challenging social issues and changing lives.
In addition to this year’s initiatives we continue to fund and support projects in fifteen other cities around the world.
This wouldn’t be possible without the outstanding efforts of Manchester City fans and we would like to thank everyone who has participated for their support.
