Christmas is all about giving and this year Manchester City has given one worthy fan a big festive treat.

Back in November, we asked fans to nominate anyone they felt went above and beyond, for a Big City Christmas surprise in the run up the big day.

Wesley Ratcliffe, from Wythenshawe, was put forward by his wife for the work he does in his community.

The 36-year-old Seasoncard holder coaches football to children with disabilities whilst also providing 24 hour care for his eleven-year-old son, Harvey, who suffers from Phelan McDermid Syndrome.

A real community hero, he works tirelessly to raise money for the syndrome’s charity and also to promote disability inclusion through sport.

As a reward for all his hard work, Wes was taken on an Etihad Stadium and Club Tour, which unbeknown to him, included several surprises.

As the tour came to an end he was greeted by the children from his team, Benchill Celtic Bears, who were training alongside Claire Emslie and Keira Walsh at the City Football Academy.

And that’s not all.

Waiting in the first team changing room was a brand new Nike kit for the team, while Emslie and Walsh also delivered a special cake to mark Wes’ son Harvey’s birthday and some mementos so that he and his dad never forget their Big City Christmas surprise.

Merry Christmas, Wes!
