Manchester City can confirm the coaching structure for our Elite Development Squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Brian Barry-Murphy has departed from his role as Head Coach of the Club’s Elite Development Squad and left the Club.

Barry-Murphy leaves on the back of a highly successful three-year spell in charge of City’s Under-21s.

In that time, he led the side to successive Premier League 2 triumphs in both the 2021/22 and 2022/23 campaigns, with City in the process also becoming the first team to win three successive PL2 titles and Brian leaves with the thanks and best wishes of everyone at Manchester City.

Ben Wilkinson has been appointed as Elite Development Squad Lead Coach, moving into the role from his position of Under-18s Lead Coach, a responsibility he has held for the past three seasons.

In that time Ben - who has also enjoyed successful spells as Under-16 Lead Coach and EDS assistant manager - has overseen a hugely successful period for our Under-18s.

Under his stewardship, City won the Under-18 Premier League regional and national titles in both 2021/22 and 2022/23, in the process becoming the first side to achieve three consecutive Premier League north and national titles.

Further success continued last season with Ben guiding City to FA Youth Cup glory with our Under-18s sealing the prestigious trophy thanks to a 4-0 final triumph over Leeds at the Etihad Stadium in May 2024.

We will be announcing our Under-18s coaching set-up in due course.
