The 23-year-old has been with City since he was 13 years old, becoming a towering, commanding presence in our EDS defence.
He progressed through our youth sides, showcasing impressive composure and ability to read play before signing his first professional contract with City in 2020.
The England youth international was part of our 2020/21 Premier League 2 winning side, totalling 16 league appearances at centre-back.
The following campaign, Burns was handed his senior debut by Pep Guardiola in City’s 6-1 Carabao Cup triumph over Wycombe Wanderers in September 2021 before joining Swansea City on a season-long loan.
In 2023/24, Burns continued to gain valuable senior experience on loan at Stevenage before another loan spell, this time with Championship outfit Hull in 2024/25.
Most recently, Burns spent the 2025/26 season on loan at League One side Reading. He made 32 league appearances as the Royals finished 12th.
Now, he’ll be continuing his journey in the senior game with Wigan.
