Jason Wilcox has saluted City’s Academy set-up after our Under-17s beat Tottenham 6-0 in Wednesday evening’s Premier League U17 Cup final.

Goals from Dan Ogwuru, Carlos Borges along with a Josh Adam brace and a double from substitute Will Dickson secured a memorable victory at Loughborough University to add yet another trophy to our growing collection at Academy level.

Last season saw our youngsters win both Premier League 2 and the Under-18s Premier League – and both those sides top their leagues again this term.

And we now have silverware at Under-17s level, too.

Academy Director Wilcox says our success is the result of collective effort from across the City Football Academy.

“Everyone at the Academy is incredibly proud of the team, bringing another national trophy back to the CFA,” he said.

“They have maintained the highest level and overcome difficult challenges against some excellent opposition throughout the competition.

“This achievement is testament not only to the players and coaches but to every member of staff who works hard at the club each day to help deliver this type of success.

“We now look forward to seeing how the rest of the season progresses for our teams, with the Under 18s and Elite Development Squad looking to retain their respective leagues.”
