Josh Wilson-Esbrand has signed a new five-year contract at Manchester City.

The 19-year-old left-back, who made his first team debut earlier this season, has had his progress rewarded with a deal that keeps him at the Club until the summer of 2027.

Wilson-Esbrand joined City in 2019 and progressed through the Under-18s and Elite Development Squad (EDS) before making his senior bow in the Carabao Cup victory over Wycombe Wanderers in September.

He delivered an impressive display at the Etihad Stadium, picking out Riyad Mahrez with a precise cut-back to claim an assist as the Algerian swept home City’s second goal of the evening.

A technically gifted, powerful and attack-minded full-back, Wilson-Esbrand joined from West Ham United two and a half years ago.

He helped the Under-18s win a national title during his first season at the Club and was promoted to the EDS for 2020-21, but made just two appearances before a knee injury ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign.

The teenager, who can also play in a more advanced position on the left wing, has played 15 times for Brian Barry-Murphy’s side this season.

He is one of several youngsters whose development is supplemented by training regularly with Pep Guardiola’s first team squad and, in addition to his debut against Wycombe, he has made the substitutes bench on eight occasions this term.

Meanwhile, fellow Academy prospect Oscar Bobb has also signed a new contract.

The 18-year-old forward has agreed a deal which runs until the summer of 2026.

Comfortable playing as a striker or out wide, Bobb is a Norwegian youth international who joined the Club ahead of the 2019-20 season.

He was part of the Under-18 side that won the 2020 FA Youth Cup and the 2020-21 national title, scoring in the final stage game as City beat Fulham 3-1 to lift the trophy.

This season, Bobb has scored five goals and provided a Premier League 2 high nine assists in 18 games for the EDS and his progress was rewarded with a place on the bench for City’s 4-1 FA Cup win over Swindon Town in January.
