The City duo were ever-presents across an unbeaten month for our Elite Development Squad, in which Brian Barry-Murphy’s youngsters won two and drew one of our fixtures.
Contained within that run was a crucial 2-0 triumph over title rivals West Ham United at the Academy Stadium, which extended our lead at the PL2 summit to seven points.
Larios played a crucial role in that victory and helped our EDS to register three successive clean sheets with consistently commanding displays from left-back.
But the Spaniard also played his part going forward for Brian Barry-Murphy’s youngsters, grabbing an assist in our 5-0 triumph away to Derby County.
McAtee – who claimed August’s POTM gong - was also in the thick of the action at the sharp end, adding a further three goals to his PL2 tally across the month.
The midfielder kicked-off another prolific month with a brace in our victory at Derby and followed that up with an exquisite Panenka penalty against West Ham.
He also made a brief cameo for Pep Guardiola’s men in our 4-1 FA Cup fourth round win over Fulham, replacing Riyad Mahrez for the final few minutes at the Etihad Stadium.
The shortlist was chosen by the Premier League Football Development Panel after PL2 club coaches nominated the best performance by an opposing player in each of their league matches during the month.
Good luck to Juan and James in this month’s PL2 Player of the Month vote!
