Now comes the challenge of tackling a talented Oxford side who secured their quarter-final ticket with a 3-0 home win over Leeds United.
Oboavwoduo is determined to see off the Us on Tuesday as we aim to keep hopes alive of a league and cup double.
As well as progress in the cup, City are atop the Under-18 Premier League table, seven points ahead of Sunderland who do have two games in hand.
The skilful, dynamic forward, who has progressed through our academy system, is eager to stay alive in both competitions.
He said: “I think it’s important, especially carrying momentum now into the Youth Cup, in the league.
“In the Youth Cup it’s important all the chances we are creating at the moment, we convert them, we’re staying solid at the back, I think it’s important we keep playing well.
“In all competitions, it’s important that we keep getting momentum because that’s what’s going to help us in the league.”
Oboavwoduo and his team-mates are eyeing the FA Youth Cup trophy, which City have won three times and finished runners-up eight times.
The last time City emerged victorious was 2020, when we beat Chelsea 3-2 in the final – and Oboavwoduo wants glory again.
He added: “Certainly, it’s a quarter final in a big competition that we’ve not won in a couple of seasons, so I think it’s one where we really want to try our hardest to go on and win, as we’re only in FA Youth Cup, we’ve got the league left, but it’s disappointing to be knocked out the Under-18s and Under-17s cups.
“So we really want to win as many competitions as we can, and everything that we’re in, we want to win it, so I think it’s a good game against Oxford, we obviously want to show our level of course.”
Tickets are available for the game and cost £3 for adults, £1 concessions and for Under 16s while season ticket holders of both clubs will be admitted free of charge.
The incentive for the winners of Tuesday’s tie is a semi-final draw away to Arsenal.
The other semi-final will see West Ham host Southampton.
