The striker broke the deadlock within two minutes in a 4-1 win over Liverpool, before setting up Alfie Harrison for our second of the afternoon.
James McConnell pulled on back before Dan Ogwuru restored our two-goal advantage on a swift counterattack, with Oboavwoduo completing the scoring deep into stoppage time.
Victory saw us move ten points clear at the top of the Under-18 Premier League table, but second-placed Sunderland have three games in hand.
However, speaking in his post-match interview with mancity.com, the 16-year-old believes City are hitting our stride in our pursuit of a third-successive league title.
“I think it’s a good time to really be in form, we’re picking up the wins, but also applying pressure on Sunderland,” he explained.
“They know now, even though they have got the three games in hand, they can’t afford to slip up, because we’re really pushing now, we’re on it.
“I think it’s such a statement for us, and for the rest of the league to know that if they come here, or wherever we go, games are not going to be easy.
“I think first half we played well, we started fast with the early goal. As the half went on, we dropped a little bit, and at 2-1 we obviously had to raise it again.”
Oboavwoduo’s brace took his tally for the season to 13.
Reflecting on his own performance, the forward was delighted to contribute to an important win.
He said: “As a striker you want to score, and I want to finish up at the top of the tally for the number of goals scored.
“On a personal level, I want to score as many goals as I can, but all it really is to help the team.
“If I’m scoring goals or winning games, but getting the points on board, then I’m happy.”
