Liam Delap and Cole Palmer have been nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Season award.

The Manchester City duo are among the eight-man shortlist, recognising their fine form in our Elite Development Squad’s (EDS) title-winning campaign.

Both players were hugely influential in Enzo Maresca’s side’s success, with Delap netting 24 goals, including three hat-tricks, in just 20 games to finish the season as the league’s top goalscorer.

Palmer also proved reliable in front of goal, netting 13 times from midfield to tie second in the scoring charts and providing six assists as City won a maiden Premier League 2 title by 14 points.

The young pair were shortlisted by the Premier League’s Football Development Panel, who will also pick the winner and are up against: Louie Barry (Aston Villa), Charlie Cresswell (Leeds), Sam Greenwood (Leeds), Connor McBride (Blackburn), Aaron Ramsey (Aston Villa) and Shola Shoretire (Manchester Utd).

It has been a season to remember for both men, who made their first team debuts early in the 2020/21 campaign and starred as the Under-18s won the delayed 2019/20 FA Youth Cup final in November.

Delap enjoyed a dream start in the senior set up as he scored in the Carabao Cup victory over Bournemouth back in September, with Palmer impressing when he made his bow as City beat Burnley in the same competition.

Everyone at Manchester City congratulates Liam and Cole on their nomination and wishes them the best of luck in the final vote.
