The 2024/25 campaign will begin for both teams on Saturday 17 August with respective trips to Liverpool and Leeds United.
It’s been a busy summer for both squads who travelled to Portugal for a pre-season training camp where their new Lead Coaches also instructed them for the first time.
Ben Wilkinson made the step up to the EDS Lead Coach after two seasons in charge of the Under-18s.
In turn, German coach Oliver Reiss was appointed Lead Coach of the Under-18s after a 17-year stint at Hertha Berlin’s Academy.

EDS FIXTURES
Liverpool v City | Saturday 17 August, 14:00 (UK) | Premier League 2
Wilkinson’s young Premier League 2 squad will be on the road throughout August in two competitions.
First up, our season begins with a trip to Liverpool with kick-off scheduled for 14:00 (UK) on Saturday 17 August.
We faced the young Reds on the road last campaign and suffered a 2-0 defeat in the newly formatted league.
But Wilkinson’s new squad will be looking to perform better in the opening game.
Chesterfield v City | Tuesday 20 August, 19:00 (UK) | EFL Trophy
Then, we travel to Chesterfield, the National League champions, for City’s first game of our EFL Trophy journey.

Derby v City | Friday 23 August, 19:00 (UK) | Premier League 2
On the road once again, City travel to Derby with fixtures already coming thick and fast in the Premier League 2.
Last season’s identical fixture was end-to-end but our opponents were the ones to come out on top with a 4-2 win.
The month was set to be complete with a trip to Grimsby for our second EFL Trophy group stage match but the game has since been postponed due to City’s opponents progressing to the second round of the Carabao Cup.
UNDER-18S FIXTURES
Leeds United v City | Saturday 17 August, 12:00 (UK) | U18 Premier League North
There is potentially no better test for City’s fresh-faced Under-18s and our new Lead Coach than an away trip to Leeds United on the opening day of the campaign.
Our last clash against the West Yorkshire side came in the FA Youth Cup final where City ran out 4-0 champions.
And on Saturday 17 August, Reiss will be looking to emulate a similar result and begin his coaching journey in England on the right foot.
City v Manchester United | Saturday 24 August, 11:00 (UK) | U18 Premier League North
A week later, the 2022/23 league champions, City, take on the 2023/24 Under-18 Premier League North winners, Manchester United.
We will welcome our neighbours to the City Football Academy on Saturday 24 August.
Our last encounter on home soil saw City run out 4-1 winners to hand United their first league defeat of the campaign.
Norwich v City | Tuesday 27 August, 13:00 (UK) | Under-18 Premier League Cup
City’s first experience of the cup competitions for the new campaign will see City’s youngsters travel to Norwich for an afternoon kick-off in the Under-18 Premier League Cup.
It’s our first of three group games with clashes with Brighton & Hove Albion and Derby County to take place later this year.
Last season, City reached the final of the competition, losing to Manchester United in the final.
Everton v City | Saturday 31 August, 11:30 (UK) | U18 Premier League North
And, last but not least for August, Reiss and his team will take on Everton, in Merseyside, on Saturday 31 August at 11:30 (UK). It will be another tough test in the opening month of the campaign after both fixtures last term ended in draws.
