Manchester City’s Elite Development Squad will kick off the new PL2 season with a home encounter against Derby County with our Under-18s also enjoying home advantage on the opening weekend, by entertaining Wolves.

The fixtures for the new 2020/21 Premier League 2 and Under-18 PL North campaigns – which begin this Saturday – have been officially unveiled today.

Both the EDS squad and Under-18s have new managers at the helm in the shape of Enzo Maresca and Carlos Vicens respectively.

Former Juventus and Sevilla star Maresca – who was appointed late last month - will begin his reign with an intriguing Academy Stadium assignment against Derby on Saturday, September 12, kick-off 1pm.

The EDS Squad will then travel to Blackburn and Everton on consecutive weekends as the City youngsters seek to make a positive start to the new campaign and further their development and experience.

Amongst the other highlights from the schedule will be a derby assignment away to newly-promoted Manchester United on December 11 with the home return derby pencilled in for April 16.

Last season’s PL 2 champions Chelsea visit the Academy Stadium on Saturday November 21 while our last match before the Christmas break sees us play host to West Ham on Saturday, December 19th.

Meanwhile, new Under 18s head coach Vicens – who has taken over from Gareth Taylor following his move to take charge of our Women’s team – will also begin his reign with a home encounter.

Wolves will be the opening day visitors to the CFA on Saturday, September 12, kick-off 2pm.
City – last season’s Under 18 national champions and Under 18 PL Cup holders – will be eager to lay down a winning marker with three of our first four games on home soil.

The opening day visit of Wolves is followed by eagerly-awaited encounters with Everton (Sep 19) and a derby clash with Manchester United (October 3) with a trip to Liverpool (September 26) sandwiched in-between.
