It’s the first time City have been in Manchester Senior Cup action since their penalty shootout win over Stockport County at Edgeley Park on 19 November.
With three games in three days at under-18 and 21 levels, there will need to be some clever management from Attilio Lombardo in order to keep his pool of players fresh and competitive for this gruelling spell.
Last time Lombardo’s men travelled to Lancashire FA’s base in Leyland 10 days ago, they did so with Maicon and Micah Richards in the side and had reason to feel hard done by to only come away with a 1-1 draw.
The Manchester Senior Cup is not a knockout tournament, with the team finishing on the highest points tally from their five games being crowned the winner.
Manchester United currently top the table having won three in regular time and one on penalties.
City have still yet to face Manchester United, Bury and Oldham Athletic, as well as this game against the Trotters as they look to claim a first Manchester Senior Cup since 2010.
