City EDS starlet Jordy Hiwula has joined Yeovil Town on loan.

The prolific striker, who found the net for Manuel Pellegrini’s first-team in their post-season tour of Abu Dhabi, will make the move to Huish Park until January.

Reflecting on the temporary transfer, EDS manager Patrick Vieira expressed his delight, insisting the challenge will prove beneficial to the youngster, as it has with other loanees.

“It’s good for Jordy to go on loan and gain some experience of first-team football,” he declared. “I’m really pleased.

He’s been working very well and the next step was for him to go on loan. Heading to Yeovil is a good move for him.

“He will be surrounded by first-team players with more pressure and he will be able to challenge himself. That’s what he needs.”

Having finished the 2013/14 season as top scorer for City’s under-21 side with 20 goals in all competitions, Hiwula was rewarded with a new two-year deal with the club in April 2014.

Since the start of this season, the forward has featured in all five EDS games, scoring three goals and creating one assist.

Hiwula made a name for himself with his impressive goalscoring exploits for the Academy.

Back in 2012, he was an inspirational figure for City in 2012’s Al Ain International Juniors Championships-winning side, finding the net in three matches against Valencia, Al Ain and the UAE national team.

He then struck up a fruitful partnership with Devante Cole before a knee injury hampered his involvement in the 2012/13 season.

The forward continued where he left off following his return though. After clinching the Golden Boot at the Oberndorf Tournament in August 2013, Hiwula became a regular name on the scoresheet for the EDS while also gaining some international experience for England at youth level.

His strike against Liverpool last week has been nominated in the Club’s Goal of the Month competition for September.
