City’s last match was the 5-1 thrashing of Derby County on the 19 December and they won’t play again until the trip to Manchester United on the 9 January.
Sitting second in the Premier League 2 table and safely through to the play-off stage of the UEFA Youth League, Humphreys believes now is an excellent time to reflect on a strong start to the season.
He said: “It’s only a short break and we have to keep our focus throughout so we’re ready for our next game.
“It gives us a chance to reflect on what we have done well and not so well so far. That should mean we’re in a better place in the New Year.
“It’s also a chance to relax a bit ahead of what will be a busy end to the season. We’ve played a lot of matches already this season so it’s important to get some rest.”

City attacker Isaac Buckley-Ricketts, who scored a hat-trick in that Derby win, also insists that a couple of weeks without matches will benefit the side.
“I’ll be looking to push on as much as possible next year and I know the coaches here have the best thoughts on how I can do that,” said the 18-year-old.
“We’re always looking for the positives here and having a couple of weeks without a match means we can work on tactics and working together.”
