A 1-0 loss away to Dinamo Zagreb meant that the City youngsters were eliminated at the group stage, missing out on a play-off place.
Though City carved out a number of excellent chances in the Croatian capital and also saw a second half Jayden Braaf shot strike the post, ultimately the game was decided by Antonio Marin’s fine first half free kick.
The result meant that Zagreb finished Group C in second place with City third, so claiming a place in the play-offs.
However, the EDS boss said it was results earlier in the campaign that proved to be the young Blues’ downfall.
“It’s a tough one to take but I don’t think it’s down to today as to why we’re out,” admitted the EDS boss.
“We should have won at home against Zagreb and we should have beaten Atalanta away and those two results meant that we came here needing a win.
“Given the conditions out there it was always going to be hard and the one bit of quality in the game won it for them.
“The pitch wasn’t great but it’s the same for both teams.
“We keep working all the time and we will just keep working even harder to try and change things around.
“We’ll have some honest conversations and keep pushing on and looking to improve.”
