Eric Garcia’s recent appearances for the first team have boosted his fellow youngsters’ hopes of emulating the feat, according to forward, Nabil Touaizi.

Garcia recently captained the U18s to victory in the FA Youth Cup fourth round whilst also playing a crucial part in the senior side’s journey to the Carabao Cup final, starting in the quarter-final win over Leicester and in both legs of the semi-final against Burton Albion.

And 17-year-old Touaizi says he is delighted to see his teammate succeed.

“I’m so happy because I’ve known him (Eric) since four years ago,” he said.

“This helps the young boys as well to believe that we can play with them (the first team) – it’s good for him.”

On a personal note, the forward is pleased to have returned to action after an injury lay-off and was soon back among the goals in the 4-1 FA Youth Cup victory over Nottingham Forest.

Playing for the second time after a month on the side-lines with a fractured toe, Touaizi effortlessly turned his man before racing in to find the net in the first half, before completing a brace on the hour with a simple tap-in.

“I have been injured one month or more so I’m happy to be back on the pitch”, the 17-year-old told ManCity.com.

“It was just a fracture of my toe but I couldn’t run on that, so I had to wait until it healed.”
