Capping a remarkable few months in the local player’s young career, Evans has been called up to the Young Lions squad to take on Germany as they prepare for the First Qualifying Round of the 2013 European Championships in October.
Evans replaced John Lundstrum of Everton who has been withdrawn due to injury and will be vying for a position alongside Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse and Nick Powell of Manchester United in the England midfield.
George impressed City’s coaching staff with his attitude and application in the pre-season tours of Austria and the Far East this summer, featuring in the first-team friendlies against Arsenal and Malaysia XI.
The lifelong City fan didn’t take part in the EDS’ draw away at Liverpool on Monday afternoon, as he travels to Germany for the match - he was last seen in action for City against PSG in the NextGen Series.
George represented England u16s and played in the u17 World Cup in July 2011.
We’ll let you know how he gets on after the match takes place on Thursday.
