The night began with a minute’s silence in memory of City legend Neil Young who passed away earlier in the day and the young striker put in a performance that even ‘Nelly’ would have been proud of.
Having missed a couple of early chances, Guidetti soon made amends when Donal McDermott whipped a ball in from the Swede made enough contact to knock past Bury keeper Richie Branagan.
As the game went on, the visitors steadily began to impose themselves. Andy Bishop wasted the Shakers’ first real chance in the 30th minute with an ambitious effort from 20 yards and Danny Hudson missed a glorious chance to level when he shot wildly when through on goal.
A floodlight failure meant the game was delayed for ten minutes and after the restart, Guidetti was on hand to double City’s advantage and effectively turn off Bury’s lights!

Michael Johnson showed of a glimpse of his old magic by sending a perfectly timed ball down the line for Shaleum Logan and the pacy right-back crossed for Guidetti who confidently tucked home his second of the night to put the Blues firmly in the driving seat.
The hosts dominated after the break as Logan and Andreas Mancini posed a threat on either wing, but despite a number of chances, Guidetti couldn’t complete a second hat-trick in two weeks.
The returning Gunnar Nielsen hardly had a save to make and both Joan Roman and Scott Kay had chances to add to City’s tally as Andy Welsh’s men moved closer to qualifying for the last four of the competition.
