Lombardo’s side were quick to gain control of possession and Guidetti created an early chance for Fofana, but the midfielder fired straight at Ruddy.
It was captain Huws who ensured that dominance counted on the scoresheet, heading home a Suarez corner after 22 minutes.
Guidetti doubled the lead five minutes later, gleefully smacking the ball into the back of the net after a poor clearance by the Canaries defender.
Spain U20 international Suarez has been in dazzling form lately, so it was perhaps no surprise that it was him who topped off a one-sided opening period with City’s third – firing past Ruddy after exchanging passes with Guidetti five minutes before the break.
Both teams emerged unchanged for a slightly less action-packed second half, with Guidetti’s powerful effort after 54 minutes the first genuine opportunity.
Just before the hour mark, Norwich seized their chance to test City nerves – Kelly chipping the ball over Lawlor to give the visitors hope.
The young Irish keeper was called into action again to prevent a second Canaries goal, pulling off a top save at full stretch from a free kick.
But City never looked in danger of allowing a Norwich comeback, and a calm and composed finish ensured the home side scooped all three points as they seek to end the season strongly.
The Blues are back in Manchester Senior Cup action on Monday evening when they take on Oldham Athletic.
