What happened...
Manchester City will have to wait to discover their fate in the Premier League Cup after a 2-2 draw with Hull City at the Eon Visual Media Stadium.
Goals from Lukas Nmecha and Denzeil Boadu mean City end Group C with seven points from six matches and now require Hull to beat Colchester in the final match of the group to go through.
Nmecha got the ball rolling for Simon Davies’ side with an early goal after taking advantage of a defensive mistake to coolly slide the ball past Hull goalkeeper Saltmer.
Midfielder Boadu doubled City’s lead midway through the first half when he reacted quickest to a loose ball in the penalty area.
It was a frantic, end-to-end first half and Hull soon had the chance to get back in the match. It was on the half hour mark that Johan Ter Horst collected the ball in the box and lifted it over a helpless Kjetil Haug in City’s goal.
City had several chances to extend their lead in the second half with Thierry Ambrose and Aaron Nemane going close but it was Hull who scored next. Ter Horst fired low and hard past Haug to level the scores with less than 20 minutes to go.
Although City pushed for the winner that would take them through, it wasn’t to be.
What it means...
Manchester City have seven points from their six matches in Group C and are currently second. There is just one match left, Colchester v Hull, and City will require the Tigers to prevail if they are to reach the knockout stages.
The group’s top two will go through to the draw for the last 16 of the competition.

Demeaco Duhaney played right-back while Charlie Oliver and Cameron Humphreys were the centre-backs and Ed Francis was at left-back.
Will Patching sat behind Denzeil Boadu and Sadou Diallo in centre midfield. Wingers Aaron Nemane and Isaac Buckley-Ricketts flanked Lukas Nmecha.
