What happened
Paul Harsley’s EDS side started the game brightly and passed the ball around with confidence in the opening exchanges at the blustery Academy Stadium.

The visitors looked organised and were beginning to frustrate the young Blues, but we managed to get the breakthrough in the 20th minute through Morgan Rogers, who placed his header perfectly beyond Wolves’ goalkeeper Andreas Sondergaard from Alpha Diounkou’s delivery.
Rogers almost doubled his and our lead on the half-hour mark, but his powerful effort was tipped around the post expertly by Sondergaard.
City continued to probe for a second but were left deflated on the stroke of half-time as the visitors equalised through Jordao, who finished calmly when given space inside the 18-yard box.
The Blues emerged from the break with a spring in their step and the tricky Rogers was once again at the heart of our attacking play, but his cutback after a mazy run was intercepted well by the Wolves backline.
The visitors showed their counter-attacking capability and almost took the lead in the 56th minute through Jordao, but his driven shot was tipped around the post brilliantly by the sprawling Gavin Bazunu.
Both sides battled well for a majority of the second half, with City playing some wonderful football but falling just short in the final third.
Against the run of play, Wolves took the lead in the 71st minute through Shabani, who placed his accurate shot into the bottom corner from just inside the box after some impressive build-up play down the right flank.
The introduction of Jayden Braaf gave City some more attacking intent and the winger constantly got past his man but struggled to pick out a teammate in the box.
Harsley’s side struggled to create any more clear cut chances but almost equalised when the ball was sliced towards his own goal by a Wolves defender, but unfortunately for us, the ball looped onto the roof of the net.
Braaf had a half chance in stoppage time, but his header from a driven Diounkou cross sailed harmlessly over Sondergaard’s bar as Wolves held on to claim all three points.
What it means
The defeat means that City remain in eighth place in the Premier League 2 table, with four points after five matches.
How we lined up
Gavin Bazunu started in goal, with a back four of Alpha Diounkou, Yeboah Amankwah, Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Angelino.
Rowan McDonald, skipper Tommy Doyle and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru operated in midfield, whilst Benjamin Garre and Morgan Rogers provided the width for front-man Ben Knight.
What next
The EDS side are next in action on Wednesday 18 September in the UEFA Youth League in Ukraine against Shakhtar Donetsk, with kick off scheduled for 11am BST.
