A match touted by many as a ‘title decider’ had all the roller-coaster drama, action and controversy we’re accustomed to in the Premier League on a weekend in which the footballing world remembered the 96 Liverpool supporters who lost their lives in the Hillsborough tragedy 25 years ago.
However, the Blues boss feels his side should have come away with a least a point:
“We lost a game that we didn’t deserve to lose,” offered Pellegrini.
“We played very well in the second half and the last 15 minutes of the first half. We had clear chances to score.

“They started very well and scored an early goal and a second goal from a corner. It’s easy when you’re playing at home and you are two goals in front. But after that we rearranged things and had to clear chances to score ourselves. Mignolet saved from Fernandinho and the other from Vincent is off the line.
A stirring second half comeback from City resulted in Glen Johnson deflecting David Silva’s effort into his own net to level the scores. At that point, it looked odds-on that the Blues would push on and gain all three points, but it wasn’t to be. A late penalty claim was also waved away when replays clearly show Martin Skrtel punch the ball clear.
