A sense of déjà vu accompanied the drawing of City’s first Pot One and Pot Two picks as Manuel Pellegrini’s men were pitted against two of the sides they faced in last season’s group stages.

Bayern Munich and CSKA were also in 2013/14’s Group D.

City took nine points from a possible 12 in their games against the German and Russian sides.

Serie A runners-up AS Roma complete Group E, making up one of this year’s most competitive groups.

The City first-team’s fate is shared by Patrick Vieira’s under-19s in the second year of the UEFA Youth League.

The under-19s will travel with the first team and play on, or the day before, each Champions League match day against Group E’s teams.

As ever, the third-placed team in the group will automatically go into the Europa League round of 32, while the eight group winners and runners-up advance to the knock-out rounds of the 2014/15 Champions League.

Over the coming hours and days we’ll give you all of the reaction to that draw here on mcfc.co.uk.
